Job description
The CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development (CESD) invites application from interested and committed professionals to join its circular economy team in Delhi.

CII-ITC CESD is on a mission to provide innovative ideas and solutions, in India, and globally, to enable business, and its stakeholders, in sustainable value creation. It does so by providing knowledge, capacity building, and recognition services to business.

As part of work already underway, the Centre is working on a project bringing together businesses to create a circular economy for plastics packaging in India. The Centre is looking for two individuals to work on a wide range of tasks to help in the day-to-day running of this project.

Positions: One

Job summary

The job requires primarily assisting team members in the day-to-day operations of an existing large multi-stakeholder platform initiative on plastics (www.indiaplasticspact.org).

The incumbent will also contribute to other aspects of the Centre’s work on circular economy and resource efficiency and may have to take on responsibility of tasks, as required.

The candidate should have a sound working knowledge of sustainability and the concept of circular economy. The candidate should have demonstrable experience in writing documents, conducting primary and secondary research, analysis, and writing analytical reports and papers.

  • Logical, verbal and critical thinking are essential for this work and will be tested as part of the evaluation/screening of a candidate.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordination of day-to-day running of the project
  • Research and analysis of collected secondary data
  • Synthesis of reports on plastics
  • Liaising and facilitating multi-stakeholder meetings and workshops
  • Supervision of activities
  • Help with logistics

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • A master’s degree, or at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as environmental studies, environmental science, sustainable development, economics, or political science.
  • Minimum four to five years of demonstrated experience
  • Experience of working in sustainability
  • Relevant experience in waste management and/or plastics and/or the circular economy is a definite plus

  • Ability to meet tight timelines and willingness to work hard
  • Ability to take initiative and complete assigned tasks to a high standard with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills
  • Evidence of having written formal/technical documents in English
  • Fluent in English and working knowledge of Hindi
  • Ability to network
