We are looking for:

All positions are full-time, in-office, Chennai-based. For Subject Matter Experts, part-time in-office is possible.

1. Project Manager

CENTA is looking for highly competent Project Managers, who can deliver large projects with multiple workstreams, inter-dependencies, regular client interaction and team management. Prior education sector and/or content development experience is preferred but not necessary. Prior experience with Government of Tamil Nadu is preferred but not necessary.

Location: Chennai; full-time, in-office

Reporting to: Regional Head, Tamil Nadu

Experience required: 5 to 15 years

Roles:

● Ensure the project is delivered on time, at high quality, within the stipulated budget

● Develop a detailed plan along with CENTA’s leadership group; monitor and track systematically using appropriate tools; report progress as well as risks regularly

● Ensure resource allocation from subject teams; solve for any gaps in resources 2

● Coordinate with and guide internal team members on various aspects, including quality of content

● Coordinate with external parties as needed (clients, partners, external vendors)

● Manage strong client relationships

● Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

● Maintain a fun, energetic and positive team culture.

Skills/Experience needed:

● Strong verbal communication skills in English and Tamil

● Strong written communication and presentation skills in English (Tamil will be an added advantage)

● Project management experience in ed tech and with government, is preferred, but not necessary

● General academic interest in various subjects is preferred, to be able to provide qualitative inputs on questions and content being created by subject teams

● Strong inter-personal skills for interacting positively within and outside the team

● Analytical skills with specific ability to work with large scale data

● Drive, energy, perseverance, rigour and attention to detail

● Organized, with strong process management to multi-task and take things to closure

● Comfort with ambiguity, recognizing that large projects always go through changes

● Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite; specific focus on analytics using MS Excel and/or Google Sheets

Career paths include managing larger projects, being regional head, moving into business development if interested, moving into product management if interested, etc. given the organization’s rapid growth.

2. Subject Leads

CENTA is looking for individuals with in-depth conceptual understanding of specific subjects and experience in content/assessment creation. Prior experience with ed tech companies, education content players or assessment companies will be a plus. Ability to work in both English and Tamil is a significant advantage. Academic qualifications in the concerned subject is a plus, but not necessary.

Location: Chennai; full-time, in-office

Reporting to: Regional Head, Tamil Nadu

Subject Leads required for (please tick subject(s) of interest in application form):

• Maths + Physics (combined) · Chemistry + Biology (combined)
• English language
• Tamil language
• Social Sciences

Roles:

● Own end-to-end creation of questions and content, towards delivery of the project, in the specific subject, in a timely manner (as per phases defined by the client).

● Manage and guide and team of Subject Matter Experts or SMEs (both full-time and part-time) to get the required output – the Subject In-Charge is expected to be extremely hands-on in creating questions and 3 content himself/herself, reviewing the work of SMEs, iterating with them closely to get the final question/content to the desired level of quality and depth.

● Encourage and lead high energy academic debates in the team, while also focusing on output.

● Review, refine and finalise the questions and content created by the team.

● Find and onboard more Subject Matter Experts when needed, in alignment with the Regional Head.

● Maintain the question bank using the tool defined by CENTA.

● Based on overall project targets, set targets and track team’s progress on a daily basis using simple tools like Google Sheets and keep Regional Head, Project Managers and other stakeholders updated.

● Coordinate with internal teams as needed (e.g. other experts of CENTA in Bangalore, translators, etc.).

● Coordinate with the Client as needed, including taking content input from client experts.

Skills/Experience needed:

● Enjoy the subject and understand it in a conceptually sound manner!

● Have a view on how the subject should be taught – not necessary but a plus.

● Strong analytical and qualitative reasoning skills – why a question is good or bad, how an explanation brings out the concept well or does not bring it out well, etc.

● Strong verbal communication skills in English and Tamil

● Strong written communication and presentation skills in English (Tamil is a strong added advantage)

● Creativity in presenting or explaining something would be a strong advantage.

● Basic data-handling skills and comfort with MS Excel / Google Sheets; general comfort with technology.

● Drive, perseverance, rigour and attention to detail.

● Organized, with strong process management to multi-task and take things to closure.

Career paths include growing to overall Content/Assessment Head or Chief Academic Officer, moving into product management if interested, moving into training if interested, etc. given the organization’s rapid growth.

3. Subject Matter Experts

CENTA is looking for individuals with in-depth conceptual understanding of specific subjects. Teaching experience and/or experience in content/assessment creation is preferred but not necessary. We are also open to students of higher education who are not directly associated with teaching. Prior experience with ed tech companies, education content players or assessment companies will be a plus. Ability to work in both English and Tamil is a significant advantage. Academic qualifications in the concerned subject is a plus, but not necessary.

Location: Chennai; full-time, in-office

Reporting to: Subject Lead

Subject Matter Experts required for (please tick subject(s) and grades of interest in application form):

• Commerce subjects – Accounts, Business Studies, Economics
• Computer Science

Roles:

● Create and review questions based on the framework and requirements: multiple choice questions, fill-in[1]the-blanks, match-the-columns, open-ended questions, other kinds of innovative questions.

● Create detailed explanations for answers, including audio and video based explanations where necessary.

● Discuss and iterate on questions and explanations taking inputs from Subject Leads, peers, client, etc.

● Create content and scripts for teachers to teach specific concepts in a modular manner.

● Review questions, explanations and content created by others.

● Follow project timelines and flag off exceptions in case a deadline is likely to be missed.

Skills/Experience needed:

● Enjoy the subject!

● Deeply understand the subject in a conceptually sound manner.

● Have a view on how the subject should be taught – not necessary but a plus.

4. Communication and Scripting Experts

CENTA is looking for individuals with strong command of language and experience in writing creative scripts for content production, who would like to now leverage this in the domain of education:

• 2 to 3 positions for English communication and scripting experts
• 2 to 3 positions for Tamil communication and scripting experts (who also have working knowledge of English, to be able to translate when needed).

5. English-Tamil translators

CENTA is looking for full-time people to do English to Tamil translations and review. The person should have very strong command of Tamil as used on a day-to-day basis. Since the translation will also involve technical terms in Maths, Science, Social Science, Commerce, etc., experience with translation of academic content will be a significant plus. The person should also be willing to find out technical terms as used in Tamil Nadu State textbooks (in case he/she is not familiar with them) and maintain and add to CENTA’s glossary of such terms.

6. Database developer

CENTA is looking for a full-time database developer to be based in its Chennai office and work on the integration of CENTA’s questions with the client’s technology platform, including guiding client team members on the same.

Experience required: 3 to 5 years

Skills:

● Experience in MySQL Database, SQL Queries, Stored Procedure, views and query optimisation for performance

● Working knowledge of NoSQL is desirable but not mandatory

● Ability to create and manage tables in MySQL for various modules, views and Stored Procedures, write and optimize queries for reports, optimise queries for load and performance

● Must have hands-on experience working with the large database structures.

● Basic interpersonal skills to interact with various internal and external stakeholders and iterate on one’s development.

● Strong written communication skills in English and ability to do documentation.

● Good verbal communication in Tamil and English.

Education: BE in Computer Science/IT, BCA, MCA

7. Administration and HR Executive

CENTA is looking for a full-time person to run administration and HR activities, including managing the office, managing all inventory of the office (furniture, laptops, etc.), getting things repaired when needed, supporting recruiting and documentation when needed, etc. Experience of 2 to 5 years as Office Assistant / Secretary / Admin and HR Executive will be preferred. Strong verbal communication in both English and Tamil is necessary.

8. Graphic Artist

CENTA is looking for a full time graphic artist to produce creatives for various marketing campaigns of CENTA:

• Working with Canva. Working with CorelDraw / Photoshop and MS Power point would be a plus.
• Attention to detail; comfort with technology tools.
• Creativity and ability to bring design inputs proactively based on understanding of the requirement would be a significant plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication in both English and Tamil is necessary.
