The Centre for Justice, Law, and Society (CJLS) is a multidisciplinary research centre at the Jindal Global Law School that critically engages with contemporary issues at the intersection of law, justice, society and marginalization in South Asia. CJLS is a collaborative endeavour of a group of scholars, activists and students who are engaged in high quality empirical and theoretical research. CJLS foregrounds the question of justice, especially intersectional justice, in law and society studies, to respond to the changing relationship between law and society in South Asia today. CJLS works on issues of judicial diversity, critical pedagogy, critical legal theory, gender, sexuality, constitutional law, public health law, caste and indigeneity, and social movements and the law.

Research Assistant for Project on Access to Justice in Punjab

A Team led by Dipika Jain [Professor of Law, Vice Dean (Research), Vice Dean (Clinical Legal Education) and the Director of the Centre for Justice, Law and Society (CJLS) at Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), India] is looking to hire a research assistant for a project on access to justice and the intersection gender and human rights in Punjab. The project will commence in November 2023 and the RA position will be for a duration of 10 months.

Details of the role including the remuneration for the same are listed below:

About the Position:

  • The position is for a period of 10 months, during which the Research Assistant will be working with a team of senior faculty from O.P. Jindal University on a project involving research and field work in districts of the state of Punjab.
  • The position entails extensive researching, writing and field work and the RA will spend a total of 40 days in the field.
  • The remuneration would be 60,000 INR per month.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Post Graduate degree in Law, Social Work, Legal Anthropology or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience or training in qualitative research methods.
  • Fluency in English, Hindi & Punjabi.
  • Experience and interest in the field of constitutional law, gender and sexuality is preferred but not required.
