The Centre for Asian Philanthropy India is a research-focused non-profit in Mumbai dedicated to building thought leadership on India’s social challenges. We contribute to the growth of social impact, philanthropy and CSR in India by conducting and sharing research, models and strategies.

CAPI is seeking a highly motivated Research Analyst to join our team, and contribute to our ongoing research initiatives, and assist with both qualitative and quantitative projects. CAPI is currently working on two major projects: a study on mental health in India; and another one on leadership development among youth in India.

We have a strong preference for a candidate based in Mumbai and who can start as soon as possible.

This is an in-person role, with an initial term of 1-year which may be extended depending on performance.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake relevant literature review and map research trends in the field.
  • Write background research memos on social sector issues.
  • Participate in conducting qualitative research through interviews, and expert consultations.
  • Prepare and clean qualitative/ quantitative data for analysis through transcribing, tagging, data cleaning and coding, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the research team to analyze and interpret data to develop research insights.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports and case studies.
  • Preparing talking points, briefs and memos for CAPS’ team.
  • Preparing decks and slides for presentations during panels/roundtables etc.
  • Assist in social media content development and dissemination.

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years work experience – please note we are not accepting freshers for this role.
  • A Master’s degree in the social sciences, business or humanities.
  • Basic understanding of research methodologies in the social sector.
  • Proficient in MS Office – PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent writing, communication and editing skills in English. Quantitative analysis skills are a bonus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to take ownership and initiative – these are a must!

  • Voluntary experience with non-profits organisations
