Website CSF_India Central Square Foundation

Central Square Foundation is a nonprofit organization working with the vision of ensuring quality school education for all children in India. Since 2012, we have been partnering with the government, and ecosystem stakeholders to improve the learning outcomes of children, especially from low-income communities. We are driven by our mission to enable the school education system to adopt solutions that are scalable, sustainable and effective, so that all children get equal access to opportunities needed for leading a better life.

Position Summary We are looking for an Intern to support the field operations of School Scanner, a project of the Central Square Foundation.

Research in South Asian markets has suggested that providing parents with comparative information on school quality, linked with learning outcomes, can lead to a sustained impact on learning outcomes as this builds competition between schools and a demand from parents to see better results.

CSF, in order to provide school quality information, is building an EdTech product – School Scanner, on a B2C model. We conduct assessments at the household level (bypassing schools) to get accurate data, crowdsource information from parents, and then disseminate the aggregated data in a bite-sized digestible format to parents through low-tech tools. The proposed model is being tested in Bangalore, Karnataka.

Responsibilities and Area of Work:

● Implement the marketing strategy, outside of in-person sessions, to build an organic momentum for higher tool adoption

● Regularly engage with and support field agents to ensure beneficiary participation

● Engage with beneficiaries over phone calls and SMS text every day to start and complete the assessments

● Implement lottery-based incentive system- manage the timely delivery of incentives to parents

Duration: Immediately in October till 30th November 2021 (Extendable based on performance)

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

● Preference for candidates with an undergraduate degree. Degrees in progress are also accepted.

● Proficiency in Kannada is a must. Proficiency in Tamil is also desirable.

● Preference for a candidate who has worked full time/volunteered on implementation of community focussed projects.

● Experience in marketing/sales would be a plus.

● ‘Can-do’ attitude and openness to learning.
