Job Description:

This position is responsible for developing the company’s promotion strategies and external image by coordinating social, environmental and philanthropic projects in India.

  • Serves as the focal point for Cat’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, applying and implementing CAT’s CSR strategy in the local environment to maximize the social and business impact
  • Supports and works with the CSR committee and Director GGCA to develop locally relevant strategies and plans in alignment with CAT’s SDG philosophy and country growth plan
  • Works with NGO and other partners in the implementation of on ground program
  • Lead the employee volunteerism program
  • Represents CAT in local and regional communities while building strong, quality relations with key stakeholders such as policymakers and key government representatives, business partners and providers, not-for-profit and educational institutions, and existing and potential clients
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of CAT’s brand image and corporate character when defining strategies, creating solutions to address social challenges, and implements them efficiently
  • Leverages CAT resources by aligning CSR strategies with CAT’s growth strategies
  • Enhances CAT India’s brand image through thought leadership in skills development, environment related projects and Corporate Citizenship
  • Brings alive stories about Cat India’s unique and innovative corporate citizen programs and impact
  • Measures and monitors the programs, plans for the CSR committee and write reports for internal and external use
  • Create guidelines, checklists, policies, procedures, and other related program content, to align with best practice and frameworks related to CSR.
  • Draft narrative content for sustainability reports, trends reports, and other communications and content around ESG disclosures and award submissions.
  • Collaborate and work with the communications and government affairs colleagues to raise CAT’s voice and visibility on our projects sustainability issues and build allies among a wide variety of stakeholders, including NGO partners, to help create a more sustainable ecosystem.
  • Manages budget, expenses, and business controls properly, and achieves planned targets and results
  • Analyze the credibility of all CSR related awards and support submission for the same, in coordination with all concerned team members. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, supporting other project, carrying out the objectives of the department, as well as providing recommendations on new programs and ensuring engagement of employees as mentors and implementers

Skills & Attributes:

  • Deep knowledge of CSR/public policy issues in India and how businesses can engage and contribute to positive social impact in the areas of education and skills, health, and community resilience
  • Strong networks within public policy and CSR communities
  • Knowledge of and relationships within the skill and environment ecosystem will be particularly valued.
  • Excellent communications and negotiation skills to achieve alignment amongst stakeholders and leverage CSR social outcomes for positive business outcomes, particularly brand and employee engagement
  • Ability to drive projects to achieve goals
  • Experience designing Corporate Citizenship/CSR programs and activities
  • Exceptional command on English language – verbal and spoken, communication skills, creative writing, editing skills, including ability to articulate and present concepts. · Understanding and experience of corporate social responsibility, sustainability and ESG related work.
  • Strong understanding of data and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deal with several stakeholders, simultaneously and function smoothly.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-national, multi-faceted environment, co-creating and making best of such a work environment.
  • Willingness to travel

  • Self-motivated and team player
  • 10-15 years of work experience in CSR and Communication, Development Communications, preferably in the Corporate/CSR/Sustainability sector. MBA/Masters in Sustainability/Behaviour Science/Communications and allied fields.

This position currently sits within Global Government and Corporate Affairs, India and will be based out of Chennai.

Relocation is available for this position.
