Bhumi is one of India’s largest independent youth volunteer non-profit organisations. Bhumi as a platform enables over 12,000 volunteers in more than 12 cities across India for causes such as education, environment, animals and community welfare.

Bhumi is the recipient of the ‘Leader in Volunteer Engagement Award’ conferred by iVolunteer in 2014.

Geographical Presence: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Delhi NCR.

Bhumi has two core areas of work – Education and Civic Projects

Ignite: Transformational Education Ignite is Bhumi’s supplementary education programme for under-privileged children. The programme is delivered during the weekends by over 2,000 trained Bhumi volunteers. Over 10,000 children are benefiting from the programme in 2015 across 12 Indian cities with the aim of providing children with quality education to enable them become responsible and productive citizens of the future. The programme consists of English, Mathematics, Science, Robotics, Computers, Dance, Arts, Sports, Mentoring and Life skills support.

Catalyse: Transforming Citizenry Catalyse consists of Bhumi’s civic initiatives that engage volunteers in causes like animal welfare, community welfare, disability, environment, health etc. The programmes consisting of one-off and regular volunteering activities engage over 10,000 volunteers each year in over 15 cities across India.

Job Description
The Director – Technology will be responsible for managing and scaling the technology landscape of Bhumi. The director should provide direction and leadership in using technology, information, and knowledge management systems, for efficient day-to-day operations, enabling monitoring & evaluation, and improving effectiveness in delivering, maximizing impact.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Lead adoption of cutting-edge digital technologies / platforms to deliver effective solutions at the optimal cost
• Maximise the leverage of technology across the organisation to transform and automate processes
• Working with all program teams / support functions to understand their requirements, translate them to effective technical solutions for their needs.
• Program Management of all technology related initiatives within the organization
• Managing the IT Budgets and spends for both CapEx and OpEx initiatives.
• Foster relationships with technology partners.
• Developing policies, standards, practices and security measures for the use of technology and data in various programs / support functions in Bhumi.

Requirements
Preferred Educational Qualification / Experience:

• Bachelors/Masters degree in computer science/information technology/computer applications.
• 5-10 years of experience in IT/ITes industry/domain
• 3-4 years experience in program management.
• Prior experience in the non-profit sector will be an advantage.
• Should be able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work with various teams, and provide direction in meeting technology-related requirements.
• Must be deeply passionate about using technology to drive better results in the social sector.
• Must be incredibly self-motivated, and have a strong drive to make a difference in the social sector.
