BCN plays a critical role in supporting Bain’s case teams globally to help with analytics and research across all industries, for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services.

1. Associate- Financial Services

Who you’ll work with :

This is an opportunity to be a part of Bain’s Financial Services, Centre of Expertise (CoE) team, based out of Gurugram office. The FS CoE team supports the global FS practice area leadership team with research and analytics, to help produce the annual IP publications, reports and point-of-views. In addition, the team also helps global Bain case teams and client development teams with specific work-stream on the case or tasks originating out of the annual IP work.

As a Tools specialist, you will work with Bain team or end-clients as an expert to develop products like web tools, tableau dashboards, etc. in individual capacity or lead teams of analysts and associates to design and deliver impactful solutions

What you’ll do:

• Understand client needs and situations and adapt to case expectations. Show ability to resolve discrete issues and/or drive consensus

• Take responsibility for assigned work streams and generate hypotheses. Effectively understand the work plan and execute it

• Build dynamic, visually attractive, end-to-end, and innovative software product/apps/solutions including front-end and back-end architecture, such as user experience, user interaction, responsive design, and complete architecture

• Work with databases, servers, APIs, version control systems, and third-party apps

• Create databases with efficient structures; Write optimized queries, views and triggers for integration with other applications

• Design strategy for continuous enhancement/improvements, performance optimization, stability, and scalability

• Hands on with Tableau (dashboard creation, report authoring and troubleshooting, data source management)

• Create and edit SQL queries within Tableau to build calculated fields

• Create interactive filters, parameters and calculations for preparing dashboards and worksheets in Tableau

• Design and develop ETL workflows and datasets in Alteryx to be used by the BI reporting tool. Perform end to end Data validation to maintain accuracy of data sets

• Translate business logic from one system (Excel, SQL, etc) into Alteryx in a quick and accurate manner

• Stay updated with new tools, frameworks, approaches, and architectures in the development world

• Effectively structure communication of insights from own work stream. Deliver clear and professional presentations to the team/team leaders/managers

• Consistently seek and provide responsible feedback in all interactions; recognize different skills and development needs in oneself

About you :

• Candidate should be a Graduate from top-tier college with strong academic records and with 3-5 years of relevant work experience

• Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in software development

• Strong organizational and project management skills

• Proficiency with server-side languages such as Python, R, Java, and .Net.

• Familiar with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React, and Amber

• Knowledge of fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

• A solid understanding of SQL, relational databases, and normalization

• Extensive experience in developing, maintaining and managing Tableau driven dashboards & analytics and working knowledge of Tableau administration/architecture

• Experience in designing and developing efficient Alteryx workflows.

• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Proven self-starter with demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills

2. Associate – Private Equity Group CoE

This position is for an Associate to work individually and/or lead a teamlet of analysts within the ‘Private Equity Center of Expertize’. BCN’s Private Equity CoE works on live due diligences and IP/CD with Bain case teams across the globe. The work spans a breadth of industries and multiple types of analysis including target screening, market sizing, market & competitive intelligence, consumer surveys, workforce analytics, digital analytics, and disruption assessments. The CoE is witnessing huge demand from the Bain System, and as such, there are immense opportunities for an Associate to grow within the BCN PE CoE.

Associates produce client-ready research and analysis, generating strong business insights and understanding implications.

Associates work under the guidance of a Project leader/Manager, playing a key role in driving their workstream’s overall answer and final materials, and helping their lead/manager with client communication, work planning, and team management. Associates are generalists who lead projects across any geography or industry. Hands-on experience with tools such as Alteryx and Tableau is a Must-Have Domain expertise/prior experience in diligence/transaction work (target screening, survey analytics, workforce assessment, sector and industry scans, etc) is a Plus. Advanced or Digital analytcis is a plus.

Core Responsibilities & Duties :

• Use thought leadership and sound business judgment to drive their own and their teamlet’s research and analysis on cases across geographies and industries

• Able to quickly come up to speed on different businesses and perform research and analysis across all geographies and industries

• Help their lead/manager in assigning work streams

• Identify and employ relevant research sources and analytical tools

• Ensure timely, high quality, zero-defect research, analysis and output produced by themselves, and their teamlet

• Comfortable with the fast-paced nature of due diligences, that require quick ramp up on new projects

• Understand client needs and situations and adapt to case expectations

• Generate and screen realistic answers based on sound reality checks and recommend actionable solutions

• Communicate data, knowledge, and clearly understand insights and implications for the client

• Assist their lead/Manager communicate with BCN clients, who are Bain teams around the world

Qualifications:

• B.Com., B.E., B.Tech. and/or MBA with strong academic record along with working proficiency in any of the languages such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a professional services context

• Should possess excellent analytical, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

• Should possess strong communication and team skills, with ability to multi-task

• Hands-on experience with tools such as Alteryx and Tableau is a plus

• Prior research experience, for example in commercial due diligence, target screening, market sizing, market & competitive intelligence, consumer surveys is a Plus

• Prior experience in digital analytics (e.g. social media analytics, web analytics) is a Plus

• Experienced at managing teams, and adept at multi-tasking

• Ability to deal with ambiguity, and develop approaches to tackle diligence questions

3. Manager Assistant

This position serves as a key secretarial and administrative support to the Leadership team and takes full responsibility for maintaining their demanding schedules. The incumbent will be involved in business activities and expected to have an excellent organizational skill, be proactive, and possess a professional demeanor. He/She should be equipped with experience to handle confidential information with utmost discretion. Throughout their career, MAs will continue to grow within the role, i.e., learn new tasks, improve on established ones, integrating “best practices” among their cohort and adapt their work styles to best support the changing needs of the organization. Activities will vary, depending on the Leadership’s work style and the existing workload. The duties described below make up a typical, but not necessarily an exhaustive list.

• Daily Assistance to leadership

• Administrative assistance to 5-6 leaders (Directors/Sr.Directors) on the daily basis

• Effectively manage and deliver multiple priorities across reporting line on variety of high-level administrative tasks (example schedule management, travel arrangement domestic / international, meetings, special events, expense processing etc.)

Qualifications

• Graduate in any stream

4. Associate – Corporate Finance & Strategy CoE

Corporate Finance teams are part of ‘Corporate Finance and Strategy CoE (CF&S)’. CF&S work as innovation partners for Bain’s Global strategy practice to enable cutting-edge Intellectual property (IP) / Point of view (PoV) development & commercialization and flawless client delivery. Our strength lies in our people who are experts across different aspects of the strategy topic vis-a-vis business and corporate strategy, CEO and leadership ways of working and corporate finance, backed by solid capabilities around research, analytics and stakeholder management.

Corporate Finance team works with Bain teams across the globe with solutions to corporate finance and capital markets related aspects with a wide array of highly customizable offerings and tailored analyses to address key CXO concerns and equip the C-Suite with the right tools to shape their agenda on long-term shareholder value creation. The team conducts financial diagnostics for client companies, codifies Bain’s intellectual property and contributes to new intellectual property. What you’ll do :

  • Corporate Finance (CF) Associates play a team member role on BCN cases, at times leading simple cases independently and at times driving the analysis on more complicated cases with significant direction from a Project Leader/ Manager/ Senior Manager
  • CF Associates may manage 1-3 Analysts and take responsibility for sharing appropriate information across work streams. Associates provide feedback and coach Analysts on task execution and role. The expectation is to eventually provide significant direction and support to resolve complex issues and effectively manage client and team meetings.
  • CF Associates are responsible for executing and at times driving the team’s overall answer, final materials, client communication, work planning, and team management on capital markets/corporate finance related projects
  • CF Associates are expected to produce high quality, client-ready research and analysis, understanding implications and generating strong business insights
  • Ability to think through the impact of any change in one financial metric across financial statements, and impact to valuation. Ability to make sense of financial data, such as reasons for high or low growth, margins, returns, multiples, leverage and accompanying competitive dynamics
  • Communicate data, knowledge and insight to the entire team. Generate and screen realistic solutions based on sound reality checks and recommend actionable solutions
  • Effectively structure communication of insights from own work stream. Deliver clear and professional presentations to the team/team leaders/managers
  • Consistently seek and provide meaningful and actionable feedback in all interactions; recognize different skills and development needs in oneself and work towards it

About You :

  • Candidates should be graduates/post graduates with specialization in finance with strong academic records
  • 12-48 months of relevant experience in investment banking, equity research or consulting with corporate finance exposure
  • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, ratio analysis and underlying valuation principals, ability to connect financial performance to valuations with a flair for numbers and fair knowledge of equity markets to generate compelling insights and equity story with a focus on ‘so-what’

Proficient professional with sound business logic, thought leadership and ability to structure approaches to answer complex business questions

  • Cross-link different business models and multiple industries key dynamics, using key drivers/KPIs behind operational and financial performance
  • Candidates should possess excellent analytical, communication, and team player skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • Good to have first level team management responsibility involving allocating and reviewing work to a small team of analysts and conducting performance discussions, writing reviews for appraisal
  • Preference for candidates with CA / CFA
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are required
  • Exposure to Tableau/Alteryx is an added advantage
