Description
ATREE is conducting a study analysing treated wastewater irrigation practices and their impact on the environment and various stakeholders, including larger wastewater governance. The study is particularly focusing on analysing the conceptualisation and functioning of treated wastewater irrigation and its environmental and socio-economic impacts.

Duration: Initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility of extension for an additional two years based on performance and availability of funding.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing relevant literature and preparing research design under the guidance of the principal investigator.
  • Operationalising the research proposal and collecting data from field.
  • Analysing data and preparing project reports.
  • Engaging with multiple stakeholders, including government and non-government organisations.
  • Organising workshops for stakeholders.
  • Executing any other work related to the project assigned by the principal investigator.

Qualifications

  • Master’s (with relevant work experience) in Water Policy and Governance/ Policy Studies/ Political Science/ Sociology/ Human Geography/ Social Work/ Rural Development/ Rural Management/ Natural
  • Resource Management/ Development Studies from a reputed institute

Experience

  • Experience of conducting research using qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Minimum two years of field-level research experience related to agriculture, water and sanitation, groundwater management, and water quality assessment
  • Previous experience working on water-related projects will be prioritised.
  • Experience in managing research projects

Essential skills and other requirements

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English
  • Spoken knowledge of Kannada/Telugu is preferred
  • Willingness to stay and travel extensively in rural areas of Karnataka
  • Prior academic publications will be an advantage

Remuneration
Between Rs. 45,000-60,000 per month, subject to the qualification and relevant work experience of the candidate
