ATREE is one of South Asia’s leading conservation and environmental research organizations. ATREE seeks to address pressing environmental challenges through interdisciplinary research, teaching, and engagement with societal institutions.

ATREE CCCs:
ATREE has set up five Community-based Conservation Centres (CCCs) in the Western Ghats stretch, ranging in character from peri-urabn to Protected Area forest to Ramsar wetland. CCCs co-produces knowledge pertinent to and usable by local communities, civil society bodies, and public and private institutions.  It serves as a critical space for local communities to engage with us. The CCCs support:

  • Long-term ecological monitoring
  • Research by doctoral students and interns
  • Collaboration with communities on conservation and sustainable livelihoods
  • Interactions with local governance institutions
  • Conservation education programmes
  • Activities of other research organizations

Job Description:

  • To build and grow ATREE’s ongoing community engagement initiatives across our CCC’s, we are looking for a young and highly energetic individual who will ably understand both the principles of the inter-disciplinary approach which integrates Ecology, Conservation/ Social science and policy.
  • Understand and identify place-based problems with colleagues in the CCCs and ability bring it under a conceptual framework
  • Ability to raise funds from varied sources – research, educational programs, CSR, and foundations
  • Maintenance of collegial atmosphere and ability to work with colleagues with diverse backgrounds in the CCCS  closely – so demonstration of interpersonal skills is key
  • Willingness to travel to the multiple CCCs and field stations for coordination

Requirements:

Must be a Post Graduate with 7-10 years of experience in the domain of ecology and environmental education and extension activities. An experience in field sites and community programs in conservation and restoration along with conducting outbound educational programs/ eco tours etc would be highly preferable.

They should conceptualise, coordinate, promote and lead :

  • Courses for study abroad programmes and International & National students
  • Internships hub for school environmental education programs
  • Field site visits for ATREE Ph.D. and Master’s students
  • Programme for experiential learning for non-academics and practitioners

Emoluments:

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
