These are very difficult times for us with the continuing Covid pandemic and the regulatory pressures on CSOs, the latest being the uncertainties of the FCRA and IT-related renewals (80G, 12A) that most of us are facing. It is likely that this situation will continue in the foreseeable future. We have all tried in different ways to cope with this crisis at the level of our respective organisations. However, we have not been able to mount a robust response, as a sector to many of these challenges. In addition to the challenges, there is a pressing need to create a positive public narrative, ensure continued funding support, research our sector better and critically engage with the government on policy issues.
National Foundation for India and the Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy (Ashoka University) have been doing a series of convenings of sector leaders across the country to explore the way forward.
