Kshamtalaya is a non-profit organisation founded to support school children in disadvantaged settings so that they develop into socially and economically active young adults. We intervene to improve school enrolment, attendance, academic outcomes and life prospects for the students in rural and marginalised settings. We want to actualize a rural India in which children successfully make a transition from compulsory school education to life afterwards and go on to live happy and productive lives.

About iDiscover Fellowship : 

We are looking for young & spirited people to join us on a journey to re-discover

Education in Govt. Schools of Samastipur, Bihar.

The iDISCOVER fellowship is a 2 year-long opportunity for young people to invest in building a deeper understanding of education at the grassroots. It adopts a systemic approach in its journey : Holistic Learning, Well-being & Governance

Initiatives to ensure a positive impact on the life and learning outcomes of children studying in the primary grades.

Our vision states, all children will realise their true potential through meaningful, relevant & compassionate education and to achieve this we need a cadre of young development professionals who will receive ample opportunities to hone their knowledge, skills and mindset towards implementing sustainable solutions to global problems in the Education.

Duration of the fellowship: 2 Years

Base location of the fellows: Samastipur, Bihar
Stipend: 20,000/month

Eligibility criteria: 

1. Age- 18 to 28 years
2. Qualification- Minimum bachelor’s degree required.
3. Applicants must have completed their graduation.
4. Applicants can not pursue any other course or degree during Fellowship.
5. Applicants must be ready to give full-time commitment to the fellowship. The iDISCOVER fellowship is a two-year long fellowship and the selected fellows will be expected to resign from their current employment.

Roles and Responsibilities 

School:

• Facilitate the comprehensive growth of children, emphasizing language, mathematics, and life skills.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor and map children’s progress.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers through demonstrations and workshops to support effective interventions.
• Lead “Hausla,” a 21-day wellbeing for self and teachers.
• To create their allotted schools as the centre of excellence.

Community:

• Bridge the gap between schools and communities through Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs), School Management Committees (SMCs), home visits, and community immersion activities.

Self Capacity Areas:

• Engage in daily reflection writings to foster personal growth and self-awareness.
• Participate in reading sessions, large group meetings, and debriefs to enhance learning and exchange insights.
• Actively participate in capacity building sessions, workshops, and regular reviews for continuous self-improvement.

 Skills Required:

• Proficiency in Google Documents, Excel, and other Google tools.
• Passion for working with children and youth.
• Eagerness to pursue continuous learning and personal development.
• Adaptive approach to lifestyle changes and challenges.
• Ability to take initiative and collaborate effectively as a team player.
• Ready to work on self growth, learn, unlearn and relearn.

• Applicants must be ready to intervene in a school to teach in intervention classrooms.
• Applicants must be willing to work towards the school and community development.
• Applicants must be interested in addressing educational and social issues and is eager to develop enterprising abilities.
• Applicants must possess curiosity, should be flexible in thoughts and must be adaptable and responsible.
• Applicants can be of any nationality. However, applicants from other nationalities, except for Indians, should have the legal status to work in India.
• Applicants should have functional knowledge of English as we would be using English language for coaching sessions, manuals and electronic communications.
