Fiscal Fellowship 2023 – CivicDataLab

CivicDataLab We are a research lab working at the intersection of data, tech, design and social science to strengthen the course of civic engagements in India. We work to harness the potential of open knowledge movements and better enable citizens to engage in matters of public reform. We aim to grow data and tech literacy of governments, non-profits, think-tanks, media houses, universities, and more to enable data-driven decision making at scale.
CivicDataLab’s Fiscal Fellowship 2023 is a full-time paid opportunity between January 02, 2023 to April 30, 2023. The fellow will work closely with the Public Finance team here to work on one or more of our initiatives – Open Budgets India, Open Contracting India, Budget4Justice etc. The monthly fellowship amount is ₹25,000.
Eligibility
- Completed undergraduate degree in Economics, Development Studies, or related social sciences in 2022 or earlier from a recognized University.
- Currently enrolled in or completed a Masters or higher degree in Economics, Development Studies, or related social sciences from a recognized University.
- Familiarity with data analysis techniques and tools, and public finance data.
- Proficiency in research/public writing and presentation skills.
- Be available for full-time work for *at least* 2 months starting January 02, 2023.
About Open Budgets India
The Open Budgets India platform, built in partnership with the Centre for Budget Governance and Accountability (CBGA), is the single largest repository of Indian budget documents across different tiers of governments with nearly 18,000 documents & growing. It’s an epitome of spirited public service. Dashboards, visualisations, & machine-readable data on the platform has helped hasten the pace of analysis, especially at the sub-national level. Resources created to demystify the budget processes have helped the public to understand & contribute to the wider discourse.
About Open Contracting India
Open Contracting India is an initiative by CivicDataLab in partnership with Open Contracting Partnership that aims at making public procurement processes in India more efficient, accessible and participatory. We do this by onboarding governments to international data standards for curating and releasing data, developing platforms to analyse their data for better decision-making, creating case studies and resource material to understand the gaps and benefits of actions.
