We are seeing an increasing gap in awareness and adoption of AI in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), which can lead to long-term and irreversible digital divide b/w LMICs and High-Income Countries. At Dalberg Data Insights, we democratize AI access for impactful organizations by:

  1. Designing AI/data strategies and solutions
  2. Providing AI literacy training to our clients and partners
  3. Piloting AI/data solutions
  4. Consulting on Responsible AI practices
  5. Developing & scaling advanced AI analysts and advisors, aia2 ,designed to transform data into actionable insights.

For example, we have built an AI platform called augment.impact, which enables us to efficiently build AI analysts and advisors, aia2, so they can easily analyze and interpret data for greater productivity and impact.

We’re seeking graduates in AI & Data Science to join the fifth cohort of our data fellowship program.

About the Data Fellowship Program
Dalberg Data Insights is looking for 3 Data Fellows who can join the team. As a Data Fellow, you will become an active member of a team that is working on an ongoing project and learn first-hand what it takes to build impactful data solutions. You will rotate between different Data Science and Project Management roles, thereby receiving a unique overview of how different functions operate within a success ful project. The Data Fellowship program will help you to discover your strengths and use them to grow into the job that fits you best. As entrepreneurship and creativity is highly valued at DDI, we also encourage Data Fellows to drive their own initiatives related to data for development. The fellowship program is 6 months long and full-time employment will be offered to the top performers

You’re eager to develop data tools and inclusive data ecosystems to assist public and development actors in making informed decisions. You aspire to tackle global issues, from the spread of pandemics to climate change to youth unemployment, ensuring no population is left behind. You are a dedicated problem solver with an entrepreneurial spirit, committed to professional excellence. You are curious and a fast learner. You are disciplined and attentive to data systems. You are passionate about designing algorithms to solve pressing problems using (big) data and pride yourself on being up to date with the latest trends in the data engineering field. You are comfortable picking up any programming language or software and can learn quickly. You are curious about using new software engineering approaches to make customer-oriented solutions better, more stable, and scalable. You are self-driven, and agile and can work independently and on multiple engagements simultaneously. You do not shy away from working in multicultural and multi-location teams. You value diversity.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Curious, resourceful, confident under pressure, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative or systematic approaches
  • Self-driven, agile, and able to work independently and on multiple engagements simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate your ideas and rationale effectively to the project manager or client and see concepts through to the final design deliverable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. •
  • For applicants in the technical track: Experience working with Python to solve analytical problems

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Master’s degree in data science, engineering, or similar
  • 0-2 years of experience working with digital solutions.
  • Built algorithms and design experiments to merge and manage data. Automated analyses and authored data pipelines.
  • Helped to design and implement complex data systems.
  • Designed, built, and scaled server-side applications.
  • Designed and built front-end applications.
  • Comfortable with multiple object-oriented languages, including Python, Java, JavaScript as well as scripting languages like SQL, HTML, and CSS.
  • Ability to design and build complex applications on the back or front end.
  • Deep statistical knowledge.
