Room to Read India was established in 2003 and presently have programs in 12 states- Chhattisgarh, Delhi NCR, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. Literacy Program implemented in 9661 government schools, 20,342 teachers trained in library management and reading activities. 17,868 girls are benefitted from our Girls’ Education Program.

Room to Read is a global organization transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, our innovative model focuses on deep, systemic transformation within schools during two time periods that are most critical in a child’s schooling: early primary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls’ education. We work in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations, and governments to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensure girls can complete secondary school with the skills necessary to negotiate key life decisions. By focusing on the quality of education provided within the communities and ensuring these outcomes are measured, we have created a model that can be replicated, localized and sustained by governments. Room to Read has benefited 16.6 million children across over 30,000 communities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Grenada, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Vietnam, and Zambia.

Room to Read global headquarters is in San Francisco, and we have smaller fundraising offices in Hong Kong, London, and Delhi. We have an Asia Regional Office located in New Delhi, a Southern Africa Regional Office in Pretoria, and program offices in Colombo, Dhaka, Ho Chi Minh City, Kathmandu, Lusaka, New Delhi, Pretoria, Phnom Penh, and Vientiane.

Scope of Work: The consultant shall provide the following services:

Searching and headhunting: Shall explore prospective candidates from sources, and/or by headhunting to match the skills and qualifications required by the specific job description. Undertake labour market analysis, tap networks of professional affiliations, and leverage social media and other non-traditional methods of candidate sourcing.

Screening: Analyse profiles received through applications or other sources and identify the ones who match the position profile.

Shortlisting: Shall then share a shortlist of a maximum of seven of the most qualified prospective candidates to Room to Read for Panel interview and selection. If any of the shortlisted candidates do not meet the hiring managers’ expectations, room to Read shall ask for additional candidates to be added to the shortlist.

Preliminary interview: Shall be taking 1st round of Interview of the Shortlisted candidate assessing their skills for the Position.

Coordinating with the Panel: Coordination with panel members for their availability for scheduling interview and for the feedback of the Interview and then scheduling further round of interviews of the selected candidates

Interview Invite: Coordinate and setup interview, and also send invite to the potential candidates to be interviewed. Shall coordinate with the selected candidate till he/she joins Room to Read.

Scheduling Interviews: Coordinating with the candidates for scheduling their interview with panel after taking Preliminary interview

On Boarding: – Will be responsible for designing welcome emails, document completion and upload the same on workday, initiate Background Verification process and ensure timely completion of the same.
