NASSCOM Foundation is the social arm of the IT-BPM industry body, NASSCOM and works with the industry in achieving its goals of social transformation and impact through technology.

BigTech supports the SDG of Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, thus assisting the NGO community in gaining software access that’s secure and dependable. A technology philanthropy program that facilitates easier access to technology for NGOs by encouraging technology companies to donate their products and services.​

The BigTech program was launched in August 2007. It assists NGOs reduce their ICT costs simultaneously scaling up their operations and making them more efficient by providing them access to software donated by our donor partners. BigTech currently has a variety of software, including MS Windows, Office, Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver, Busy Accounting, and Quick Heal Anti- Virus. In partnership with US based TechSoup, donations are available for a small admin fee that supports our work.

The BigTech portal www.bigtech.nasscomfoundation.org is a convenient and transparent portal that enables Indian as well as foreign technology companies to reach out to the NGO community in India.

Approximately 3.3 million NGOs operate in India. When these NGOs were in their initial days most of them had financial limitations which led to a lack of resources. These resources include technological setbacks as well In order to keep up with the operations mast organisations opt for pirated software that’s unauthorized and unreliable.

In August 2007 Nasscom Foundation launched the BigTech Program in order to assist NGOs to reduce their ICT costs and enable them to work smoothly by providing technological access.

Problems BigTech is trying to address

  • NGOs have financial limitations to be able to invest in IT infrastructure, h/w and s/w
  • Cannot afford to hire professional services to deploy the latest technology
  • Lack of awareness and knowledge of what products is available in the market
  • Pirated software that is available which is unauthorised and unreliable
