Additionally, as a part of Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyaan, ONGC constructed 7,958 toilets in 5,451 schools across 10 states of India. Since then ONGC Foundation has been striving toward making a proactive change in society in the domain of hygiene and healthcare.
The Swacchta fellowship aims to empanel fellows to undertake the crucial work of repairing dysfunctional toilets that have earlier been constructed by ONGC with the help of ONGC Foundation and making them functional. The fellows will understand the ground realities relating to existing practices of using toilets and also towards sanitation and hygiene through this program. Fellows will be making instilling behavioral change toward the rudimentary approach of open defecation and will encourage them to use and maintain the toilets. They will also conduct awareness sessions with various stakeholders such as the school, student community, teachers, villagers, and district & block level administrative authorities regarding the importance of sanitation and its health benefits.
