The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956.

Since its inception, the Vision of the TISS has been to be an institution of excellence in higher education that continually responds to changing social realities through the development and application of knowledge, towards creating a people-centred, ecologically sustainable and just society that promotes and protects dignity, equality, social justice and human rights for all.

We are looking for Research Interns (RIs) to help a research team at School of Development, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, to design and execute a study on International Electoral Management for the TISS-ECI-IIDEM Master’s Program. The objective of the research is to develop and design a MA program which would in turn be used to facilitate teaching and research in the area of studies of electoral management and democracy for policy makers, researchers and students in general.

Qualification Currently enrolled or Pass-out Master or completed Bachelor degree students from Govt/Private Universities, from the field of Social Science, Public Policy, Management, Technology or intra-disciplinary subjects.

Description: The RI will participate in making important contributions to the research studies and adhere to the goals of the assigned research program.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:

• Researching on various courses of electoral management and democracy offering by the universities and other agencies globally

• Conducting keyword analysis for the various subjects, website and social media optimization

• Finding articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to the projects.

• Performing online outreach and promotion using Facebook, Google, Instagram, Twitter etc.

• Organizing and archiving digital resources for the project.

• Contributing to website design project in various ways

• Support the faculty and the research team in designing courses for the MA program

Qualifications: Master’s or Undergraduate degree (currently enrolled or pass-out) in arts – social sciences, public policy, business, technology or equivalent combination of education and experience. This internship will benefit someone who is interested in election studies, political science, economics, electoral management, international relations, Law &governance, management, education, data-AI, leadership, and development. The successful applicant would have the following skills:

• Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.

• Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills with a passion for writing both short- and long-copy

• Experience with MS office, basic photo editing and video editing software, and inter net browsers. Experience with Photoshop a plus.

• Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram etc.

• Able to work remotely

• Applicants with experience in handling multiple social media accounts will be preferred

Benefits and timeline: This is a paid position and compensation will be commensurate with experience. You will work in close collaboration with an experienced global research team, renown faculties from Ivy Legs and several senior bureaucrats. This is a short-term assignment: the timeline is 2 months, starting immediately, and it might be extended further depending on the requirements of the project. (This study is part of a part of a larger proposed project and thus, RIs will also be considered for future project requirements.) This is a short-term assignment: the timeline is 2 months
