In early 2000, Azim Premji Foundation set out to work in the field of elementary education in government schools across India. The Foundation hoped to impact the quality of education of India at a deep and institutional level in close partnership with the government.

Over the years, the foundation set up district level institutions that worked to improve the capacity of teachers, school leaders, teacher educators and administrators in public education.

A decade of grassroots work generated critical insights into the challenges and opportunities on the ground. The biggest need of the hour was for well-qualified professionals in the social sector.

Azim Premji University was set up in response to this need in 2010. We began with two programmes in education and development, along with courses for working professionals that enhanced the capacity of those who already work in the field.

This 90-minute immersive session will walk you through challenges and concerns in the Indian education system, and how trained and motivated professionals can meaningfully improve the quality of education.

There is a dire need for people who can understand the domain of education and take up a variety of responsibilities ranging from classroom teaching to programme management to policy implementation (NEP), in order to improve the public education system in India.

Moreover, the availability of such trained professionals in education sector is grossly inadequate, given the scale, complexity of issues and the wide range of competencies required to work in these areas.

This 90 minute immersive session will walk you through challenges and concerns in the Indian education system and how trained and motivated professionals can meaningfully improve the quality of education. Strong public education is immensely important and foundational to the development of the society.

We will also cover career opportunities available in the education sector.

We are inviting fresh graduates and working professionals to join our webinar to help you understand how the 2‑year M.A. Education programme will prepare you with the perspectives and competencies for a meaningful career ahead. We have limited spaces; hence pre-registration is required to attend the interactive webinar. This 90-minute education immersive is anchored by the Admissions office, joined by students and alumni of Azim Premji University.
