SELCO Foundation is a not-for profit, public charitable trust. It was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. SELCO Foundation seeks to inspire and implement solutions that alleviate poverty by improving access to sustainable energy to underserved communities across India in a manner that is socially, financially, and environmentally sustainable.

SELCO Foundation’s key objectives include:

  • Systematically identify diverse needs of the poor, understand and define the role of sustainable development, poverty alleviation and decentralized energy.
  • Create and deploy innovative solutions that positively impact well- being, health, education and livelihoods towards the alleviation of poverty.
  • Foster the development of enabling conditions or an ecosystem through holistic thought processes in technology, finance, entrepreneurship and policy. Currently the foundation works across 10 states in India.

Position: Program Manager Fundraising – Scaling Clean Energy for Health Centres (Contract for 12 months)

Years of Experience: Between 7 to 10 years

Current Location: HQ Bangalore, Karnataka with pan India operations.

Working Days: Mondays to Saturdays

Start date: Immediately

SELCO Foundation at its current stage is replicating its health and energy scaling program by way of strengthening health infrastructure in about 10 states of India (Noeth East, Odisha, Jharkand and Karnataka) We believe that Energy efficiency drive, powering healthcare with 100% clean and renewable energy and provision of green building infrastructure for healthcare through a COVID and future pandemic preparedness will democratize the much needed health services in the remote villages of selected states.

The Program Manager Fundraising – Scaling Clean Energy for Health Centres, will be responsible for Planning and strategizing funding opportunities for the health sector, write proposals, build and maintain relationships thus support in raising the much needed resources for the program and the responsibilities are:

Identification and engagement with funding sources:

  • Understanding the internal demand for funding- projects and programmes under health[1]energy scaling and the geographies of relevance
  • Mapping the various sources of funding and the approaches to fundraising with a focus on scaling health-energy program and its different aspects (hard and softer costs) Funding sources could include individual CSRs
  • Private and public sector, CSR platforms, crowdfunding options, Government sources such as DMF, Local area development, philanthropic foundations and so on.
  • Identifying those sources best suited for health-energy scaling programme; establish contact and identifying networks through which contact may be established.

Developing engagement strategies and collateral:

  • Determining engagement strategies based on type of stakeholders and liaising internally to establish process for engagement
  • key contacts, appropriate timeframes and volumes of funding to be sought, steps and follow up actions
  • Developing collateral (building on what exists) for engagement with different categories of funding stakeholders

Sharing learnings:

  • Strategically track CSR and special solar project efforts across regions and focus areas (wellbeing, education, livelihoods, healthcare)
  • Collate learnings from the work being done and generate monthly, quarterly and funder reports
  • Coordinate with senior managers and team members to share progress
  • Ensure projects are monitored and evaluated
  • Coordinate with outreach team members for proper archiving and dissemination of information

Key requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters in Development/ Finance and Management/ Renewable energy or related subject areas.
  • 10 or more years of work experience (preferably with experience in Fundraising, Corporate Social Responsibility)
  • Highly motivated, responsible, self-directed, resourceful and flexible; Ability to multi[1]task
  • Willingness to work with other team members; strong engagement, leadership, operational and coordination skills
  • Interest in solar energy projects implementation and deployment aimed at improving energy reliability and quality in areas that are not connected or unreliably connected to the grid
  • Good Communication skills- on qualitative and quantitative aspects; Ability to work on budgets
  • Ability to bring information together in an easily readable form for a wide range of audiences.
  • Willingness to travel to rural locations for 5-10 days on a monthly basis.
  • Strong working knowledge of English; Additionally, spoken knowledge of at least one regional language would be desirable (particularly Kannada/ Hindi/ Tamil/ Odiya)
