About our Technology for Visually Challenged Program: Technology for Visually Challenged is working to equip visually impaired students with digital technology for an efficient approach to study. The program aims to transform the way of learning and living for the visually challenged students using technology. It uses education and employability skills as tools to enable the visually challenged students enhance their potential for effective participation in the socio-economic process. The Program currently provides Digital Education in the form of training on use of computers and Smart phones and Leadership and Communication skill development in the form of virtual classes at Blind Boys Academy in Narendrapur, Kolkata.

A key project under this program is preparing the left-behind visually challenged children, with no prior introduction to formal education, physically, mentally, and educationally for their transition into regular schooling through Train-the-Trainer’s model of the Foundation.

Job Description Position: Program Head, Technology for Visually Challenged Program

Tasks & Responsibilities:

The roles and responsibilities will involve, but not restricted to, the following:

● Strengthening our existing partnership with the Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys’ Academy, Narendrapur, Kolkata, West Bengal.

● Developing and expanding on the missions of the program, especially education of the left-behind blind children in India who are not introduced to formal education yet.

● Supervising the interns of the program.

● Coordinating and Communicating: with the Advisory committee of the program and organizing regular meetings; with corporates and volunteers; with sponsors and stakeholders; and with other program heads of the Foundation.

● Assisting in writing grant applications relevant to the program.

● Maintaining database, conducting surveys and impact assessment (MEAL planning – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learnings of the Program).

● Regular visits to the project site to interact with the school management and the beneficiaries. Academic and

Experience Requirements:

● Academic background in special education (with a focus on psychology). Only bachelor’s level and above may apply.

● 3-5 years of experience of working for/with visually challenged/blind (people, children).

● Prior experience (not less than one year) of teaching visually challenged children.

● Fluency in Bangla and English languages.

● Passion in working for nonprofits (Knowledge of development sector is helpful but not required).

● Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience of working for the visually challenged children / people.
