Job Description: Assistant Procurement Manager – Tea Sustainability and Supplier Compliance

Job Title: Assistant Procurement Manager – Tea Sustainability and compliance, India

Primary Location: Kolkata

Travel: Yes, 25% of the time

Main Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for driving sustainable sourcing, social impact programs and supplier compliance in tea. Supporting in converting the India tea suppliers base to sustainable compliant production through programs like trustea and Rainforest Alliance. Collaborating with tea producers to drive the compass commitments in tea like NDPE, Living Income, Regenerative Agriculture practices and climate action. Responsible for scale up of the sectoral partnerships focused on social impact in tea like women safety and nutrition and hygiene programs. Manage the compliance to Unilever Supplier Qualification System and supplier contracts to achieve responsible sourcing. Work in close coordination with program partners, suppliers, and industry stakeholders to deliver on the procurement priorities and commitments Support line manager to identify/design the future framework of the interventions in the tea extended supply chain

Professional Skills

• Able to manage different projects concurrently, deliver effective and consistent implementation equipped with excellent time management and organisational skills
• Strong inter-personal skills and a good team player, able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to create effective ways of working – Effective tea industry and programs stakeholder engagement
• Experience on working in addressing tea industry challenges is preferred
• Experience in data analytics tools is preferred
• Having high bias for action and good planning skills for working with industry stakeholders
• Ability to adapt to emerging social and environmental challenges in tea
• Be curious to the sustainability action to make sure our programs can catch the hotspots in the industry
• Good communication and presentation skills

Experience Required

• Atleast 5 years of experience in agricultural/plantation supply chain procurement/sustainability
• Good understanding of the tea industry would be preferred

Preferred

• University degree in agriculture, social, environmental or related fields
• Multiple language capabilities a plus, fluent and written English essential
• Experience in working in an industry facing role and connected team
