Climate Story Lab – South Asia 2022

Loading

The concept of Climate Story Labs came out of radical collaboration combining the creative and campaigning expertise of Exposure Labs and Doc Society with the best of the Good Pitch Impact Labs and a laser determination to accelerate climate communication. The Climate Story Lab – South Asia 2022 (CSL-SA) edition hosted by Bangladesh-based Goopy Bagha Productions, and supported by the  Indian Documentary Foundation, is conceived as a series of interventions designed to accelerate effective climate storytelling at the regional level. The main forum is scheduled for August 2022, which will be a 3-day long event that will be attended by a curated audience of over 250 people, including mediamakers, NGOs, policymakers, funders, corporates, climate scientists, educators, activists, and climate justice advocates among others. You can read more about the Lab in the concept note attached in this mail.

We are currently accepting proposals from mediamakers from all over South Asia to participate in the lab and catapult their projects to the next level. At the Lab, the chosen projects will undergo impact workshops with media and climate experts, and at the forum, they will make vital connections with changemakers in ways that will benefit both – the project and the climate cause. If you are a mediamaker or an organisation with a climate story from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, or the Maldives, this is for you. The media formats that are eligible to participate in the lab are:

  • Fiction or non-fiction film (short or long format)
  • Podcasts
  • Photo essays
  • Comics
  • Social media campaigns
  • Mixed media art

The projects can be at any stage of completion – from an idea to mid or post production or recently released (2018 onwards). The proposals can be shared on this application link by NOVEMBER 15, 2021. If you have any questions about the format of media or rules of participation, do reach out to stories@climatestorylabsouth.asia.

Here’s hoping for a great story from you. The climate justice movement needs your voice and your craft.
