Founded by Harvard & National University of Singapore Alumni, Slam Out Loud (SOL) transforms Arts Education and Socio-Emotional Learning for children in underserved communities. Using poetry, storytelling, visual arts, and theatre, we build Creative Confidence in children while exploring social justice issues like climate and gender. Our Jijivisha Fellowship operates in Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore, placing artists in classrooms, with 75% of children showing annual competency growth in SEL skills. SOL’sat-scale program, Arts for All with the state governments of Punjab and Maharashtra creates a contextual arts-based SEL curriculum for the weekly arts period and trainsteachers on implementation. Since 2017, SOL has impacted 70,000 children in person and reached ~10.5 million digitally.

Our work has been recognized by the OECD, World Bank, The LEGO Foundation, and UNESCO, and our partners include UNICEF, Girl Rising, HP, and Rainmatter Foundation.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Associate, Government Partnerships should be a world-class relationship builder with excellent communication skills, patience, and grit. They should be excited about the prospect of working with the government while balancing the challenges that come with it.

They will engage with the city, state, and central government bodies that promote and support performance and visual art-based course projects, to build creative confidence in children from disadvantaged communities.

As an Associate, Government Partnerships, you are expected to:

Partner engagement & relationship building:

  • Identify and source partnership opportunities with the local and state governments through in-person meetings, inbound lead follow-ups, and outbound cold calls and emails, along with proactively developing a pipeline to record current and potential partners.
  • Build a strong network of contacts, and regularly follow up with them to generate government partnership leads.
  • Research potential partners, and collaborate with the senior management to align our internal goals with new and existing partner relationships.
  • Create a systematic, process-driven approach to partner outreach and relationship management for the community, sub-national and national partners.

Program/ Curriculum Implementation through Government Partnerships:

  • Design and customize program/curriculum offering as per state’s needs; strategize, plan, and coordinate programs (large-scale adoption and roll out).
  • Support the generation, and present monitoring and evaluation reports to the government authorities regarding the progress on interventions, challenges faced, solutions implemented, and progress outcomes.
  • Collect feedback from the state government partners on our programs and curriculum, and communicate feedback to both Curriculum and Program implementation teams at SOL.
  • Ensure integration on government-adopted ed-tech platforms such as Diksha.
  • Create an enabling environment on the ground with BEOs, HMs, and teachers in schools with existing interventions; this includes building relationships on the ground yourself while also enabling on-ground team members to develop strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Design and strategize pitches and proposals for state and national education authorities in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Government Partnerships and Relations.

Additional Responsibilities:
Lead interns and volunteers to ensure the timely completion of processes as well as smooth day-to-day operations across the Partnership’s vertical.

COMMITMENT

Position Type: Full time role requiring a commitment for at least 1.5-2 years.

Growth Opportunities: The Associate, Government Partnerships will occasionally join the CEO and the Senior Manager of Government Partnerships to grow donor and partnerships portfolio and raise organizational funds. The role will grow into a Senior Associate, Government Partnerships role in 1-2 years.

Location & Travel: The candidate should be based out of any of the major cities like Mumbai/Delhi/Pune/Bangalore/Hyderabad, or any of our program locations. This role requires a willingness to frequently travel to different geographies as needed

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Mindsets, skills, and knowledge:

Be able to effectively conduct written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi (verbal communication skills in regional languages is an added advantage)

  • Be able to interface clearly and effectively with government officials
  • Be proficient in MS Office toolkits such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Possess outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to write and deliver proposals (including designing budgets)
  • Be proficient in G Suite, MS Office, and Slack

Education and Experience

We believe that reaching our vision demands that we have the brightest group of leaders working to lead the movement of arts in education. Here are some preferred qualifications we look for:

  • A Graduate in any field
  • At least 2+ years of work experience in relevant fields such as PMU (Project
  • Management Unit), government relations, fundraising, or relationship management
  • Previous experience of having worked directly with government officials from the state or centre education setup is a must
