The Roots to Branches Foundation is a not–for-profit Section 8 Company with a mandate to support and strengthen the development sector in the Northeast region. As a resource organisation, we train, incubate, handhold, mentor and collectivise to build dynamic institutions. The primary work of strengthening the development sector had been initiated in 2007 under the aegis of the ant (a rural development organisation based in Bodoland region of Western Assam), wherein the initiative was named IDeA-the ant. Roots to Branches Foundation is taking forward this journey of service and support to the voluntary sector.

Future Ready Leader : Fellowship offers an opportunity to work on real-world challenges, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to lasting change. This is your opportunity to develop leadership capacities, perspective and skills on community development and lead social change organisations, connect with experts, and empower communities in one of the most biodiverse and culturally rich regions of India

What is the fellowship about

This fellowship has the following features:

Duration: 9 months

Training: Three phases of residential training modules (4-5 days each) on these themes

  • Sustainable Development & Leadership: 4th week of November, 2024
  • Participatory Community Assessment & Project Development: 4th week of January, 2025
  • Financial Accountability & Documentation: 4th week of April, 2025

Field Assignments: Apply your learning to develop impactful, and real- world projects

Learning Sharing and Graduation (2nd week of July 2025): A Graduation Meet will be held to share learnings, showcase the fieldwork, and also build a peer solidarity group

What are we looking for?

  • Individuals wanting to work on sustainable and conscious development
  • Individuals wanting to set up and lead/currently working in community development and social change organisations
  • Looking for driven individuals interested to work on local livelihoods, sustainable rural and community development
  • Youth and members from NE communities especially from rural areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura
  • Willingness to fully engage in 3 phases of residential training of 5 days each | field work | assignments | graduation event of 2 days
