Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini Of all the challenges that humanity faces today, one of the greatest, and possibly the gravest, is overcoming the CRISIS OF LEADERSHIP. It is due to this crisis that we are plagued with the pressing concern for a prospering present and a promising future. There is today, undoubtedly, a serious dearth of leadership: “leaders” in the truest sense of the term. And this is not only reflected in the contemporary political scene, but is experienced practically in every aspect of life; whether its business, academics, culture, literature, social service or sports. We need capable leaders who lead from the front and, collectively, are willing to guide humanity into a better tomorrow. In order to re-establish the phenomenon of activist-turned-leader, it is necessary that individual activists are groomed for leadership, their talents shaped and their skills honed with the help of training and orientation. Many experts have contemplated over the issue of leadership crisis.Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, an extra-ordinary visionary and one of the principal thinkers of the nationalist school of thought, had conceived the idea of an academy for socio-political activists. However, before Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay could translate this vision into reality, he was brutally murdered. After the abrupt and unfortunate departure of Panditji, Rambhau Mhalgi, a prominent political figure from Maharashtra, India, made it his responsibility to materialize this idea. This is how a concept propounded by two eminent thinker-activists during their lifetime came into existence in the form of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP). The Prabodhini is an academy for the training and orientation of socio-political activists and a centre for overall public-awakening activities and research projects. It was launched mainly as a memorial of Late Rambhau Mhalgi. It was established in 1982 as a unique Training and Research Academy

Around the world, there is a growing interest in the role of politics amongst the youth, especially in a democratic system.

Rightly so, as the Youth play an important role in shaping every sphere of Politics, Media, Society or Science & Technology. Particular to political ecosystem, Youth are vital for strengthening democracy.

Despite their importance, it is ironical to realize the relatively low participation of Youth in formal, institutional political processes, especially when compared to their older counterparts. This challenges the representativeness of the political system and leads to the disenfranchisement of young people. The absence of right opportunities and skill management is also a constraint to become potential future leaders and lead the country from the front.

Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) is the only institution preparing future political leaders. To establish the sincerity of this cause, RMP had also institutionalized the Indian Institute of Democracy and Leadership (IIDL), under whose aegis it is running a Post Graduate Diploma course. It constitutes a formal interdisciplinary course, with focus on filling the gap in India’s democratic political entity and governance through budding young talent.

Arising from this burning need, IIDL, in partnership with Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), have established this interactive and knowledge-accentuating Fellowship Programme.
