Institute of Livelihood Research and Training (ILRT) ILRT is a practice-based institution promoted by Basix Social Enterprise Group (BSEG). We have been mandated to build, develop and disseminate scientific knowledge on livelihoods that help strengthen and diversify livelihood portfolio of the socially and economically marginalised sections of the community. With a global presence, we work in ‘Pockets of Poverty’ in India and other developing countries on issues related to livelihood strengthening, diversification and promotion. We focus on enabling government agencies, corporate, NGOs and other like-minded organisations on livelihood promotion and strengthening. While our engagement with grassroots entrepreneurs, farmers and other stakeholders help us understand the issues better, we also engage with activities that positively influence the approaches and strategies at the policy level. Our mission is to “create an enabling environment for promoting dignified livelihoods for all and become a leading praxis institution in the field of livelihood promotion.” This, we have been pursuing through conducting applied research and sub – sector studies, training, designing curriculums, livelihood mapping and action planning, organising writeshops, conducting studies on value chain, skill mapping, labour market, informal sector. The Institute also has significant expertise and experience in livelihood resource mapping, providing accompaniment support and guidance.

The position of Project Manager is required for the project at Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh. The position reports to the Assistant Dean/Dean. This is a project based position for two years with a probation period of six month.
 
Job description:

ILRT is looking for a Project manager to manage the Action Reserach Project at Sidhi Madhya Pradesh. Project Title: “Landscape Restoration through Forest Products based Value Chain and Market System Development: An Initiative of Achieving Environmental, Social and Economic (ESE) Development Goals in Synergetic Manner in Sidhi District of Madhya Pradesh”.

The specific responsibilities that will be taken-up by the Manager are:

  • Responsible for implementation of the project activities in the district
  • Manage and exceute activities through a team in the district
  • Mobilize the farmers into Producer Groups
  • Work with farmers and NTFP collectors for improving production, processing and market development of Agri/NTFP commodities.
  • Capacity building of farmers and Producer Groups
  • Develop and support value chain of Agri/NTFP commodities.
  • Develop value added product development of Agri/NTFP commodities.
  • Develop a cluster for value added production across few Agri/NTFP commodities.

Educational Qualification and Experience:

  • Master’s degree from accredited college/university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Agri-marketing/Agro-processing or related.
  • Experience in community mobilization and working Farmers’ collectives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and time management skills.
  • Excellent English and Hindi language skills.
  • Competency with MS Office products, data anlysis and Report writing
  • Duration and compensation

The compensation for the position will be at par and will be based on the qualification, skills, and experience of the candidate.
