1.Sr. Technical Resource – River Basin Conservation Project

Salary: INR 12.60L-16L

Location: Mumbai

The project aims to drive a collaborative platform and program to address the critical challenges of river basin health and promote sustainable water management practices.

The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Technical Resource to join our team working on a crucial river basin conservation project in Maharashtra. This project aims to address the challenges of water scarcity, degradation of river ecosystems, and unsustainable water management practices in the region. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project’s success by providing technical expertise, guidance, and leadership to our team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical studies and assessments related to river basin hydrology, water quality, and ecological health.
  • Develop and implement strategies for sustainable water management practices, including rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and efficient irrigation systems.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of soil and land conservation measures to prevent erosion and sedimentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to ensure project sustainability and community buy-in.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations to communicate project progress and findings.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in river basin conservation technologies and best practices.
  • Mentor and guide junior technical staff in the team.

Mandatory Qualification and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in river basin conservation projects/water body rejuvenation projects, preferably in Maharashtra or similar regions.
  • Proven experience in conducting technical studies, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable water management practices and their application in real-world scenarios.
  • Experience in working with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and building consensus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Fluency in English and Marathi languages is a plus.

As a key member of the project team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our research and advocacy efforts to ensure the sustainable management and restoration of the river basin.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on various aspects of the river basin, including its hydrology, ecology, socio-economic conditions,and existing policies and regulations.
  • Analyze and interpret research data to identify key challenges and opportunities for river basin conservation.
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence policy decisions and promote sustainable practices at local, state, and national levels.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and local communities,to build consensus and support for the project’s goals.

  • Excellent advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse audiences.

  • Fluency in English and Marathi is essential. Hindi proficiency is a plus.

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in raising awareness, building public support, and advocating for policies that promote the sustainable management of our rivers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and advocacy strategy to achieve project goals.
  • Create compelling content, including press releases, social media posts, website copy, and other materials, to raise awareness about the project and its importance.
  • Manage media relations, building relationships with journalists and securing positive media coverage.
  • Organize and participate in outreach events, public meetings, and conferences to engage stakeholders and garner support.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and workshops to educate the public and policymakers about the importance of river conservation.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mission Manager to play a pivotal role in the success of this ambitious project. As the Mission Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the project, from program development and implementation to stakeholder engagement and advocacy. You will be acting as the CEO of the Mission and drive the Project with support of a fully equipped Secretariate with teams in project management, communications and technical domain expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive program: Lead the development and execution of a strategic program for river basin conservation, aligned with the project’s objectives and donor requirements.
  • Drive collaborative platform: Establish and manage a collaborative platform that brings together diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, municipalities, NGOs, private sector companies, and communities, to work towards shared goals.
  • Stakeholder engagement and advocacy: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and community representatives. Advocate for policies and regulations that support sustainable river basin management.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team: Provide effective leadership and guidance to a team of communication specialists, technical experts, and other project staff.
  • Communication and outreach: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to raise awareness about the project’s goals and achievements. Manage media relations and public outreach activities.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: Track the progress of the project against set targets and indicators. Prepare regular reports for donors and stakeholders.

Mandatory Qualification and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, natural resource management or allied areas, Doctorate is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working on environmental projects, with a strong focus on projects on water conservation, natural resource management
  • Proven experience in program development, implementation, and management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in advocacy and public policy work is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory. Knowledge of Marathi is a plus.
