We’re looking for an innovative Nature Associate with a unique combination of skills who wants to play a major role in tackling climate change.
You’ll be joining our Food and Nature team. Nature is a source, solution and victim of climate change, and often taken for granted. The team works to ensure nature and food are at the heart of the climate agenda, rooted in the scientific evidence on how it can help be part of the solution.
This role will focus on how nature is used and abused within net zero. The way nature is relied upon and financed has reached a critical point. Many of the most nature-dense regions in the world are also the most fiscally poor, yet these regions are under immense pressure to keep ecosystems (a global good) intact. Carbon markets were gaining political traction, with countries and companies looking for ways to meet climate targets. Scrutiny led to a crash in confidence in the markets, which has created an opportunity to tell a different story about how we account for nature and pay for the protection and restoration of forests. With Colombia hosting the Biodiversity COP16 this year, and Brazil hosting the UNFCCC Climate COP30 in 2025, there is a political window opening to re-imagine the role of nature in climate action and push for solutions that benefit people in some of the poorest parts of the world.
This role comes at a very exciting time. Global South to South collaboration has been growing around how to protect and restore forests, and media interest has begun to grow. We are looking for an inquisitive and enthusiastic media hustler that isn’t afraid to get stuck into complex topics and throw themselves into building relationships with journalists and partners.
