1 . STATE MEL ASSOCIATE (MH & MP), ENABLE PROGRAM

About the ENABLE Program
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes the fundamental importance of universal foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN). The policy asserts that all other aspects are relevant only if children acquire these essential skills during primary school. Children, especially those with special needs and disabilities, face significant barriers hindering their acquisition of foundational skills. In India, an estimated 7.8 million children and young individuals had disabilities in 2019. Alarmingly, a large proportion of them do not attend educational institutions, and 45% struggle to attain foundational literacy. Urgent, concerted efforts and inclusive education initiatives are vital to help these children overcome obstacles, fostering their full potential. Fortunately, existing policy frameworks, technological advancements, and governmental commitment offer a unique opportunity to address this pressing need.

ENABLE’ or ‘Equity in Accessing Numeracy And Basic Literacy Education’, is a multi-pronged intervention to strengthen the quality of education for 3-9 year olds with disabilities.

Position Summary:

In the last couple of years, Pratham has reached more than 20 million children across 22 states and UTs through wide ranging education-focused programs. The Measurement, Monitoring and Evaluation Team (MME), established in 2013, has played an integral role in ensuring that Pratham, its partners in the community and government have analytically and effectively acted upon using data generated from these programs. During unprecedented school closures in the past year, the team swiftly innovated its approach to collect data remotely, thereby continuing to inform program strategy, content, and implementation decisions.
The MME team has built and sustained a culture of data-backed decision making within Pratham and its partners. The central team works closely with ~60 state MME associates to ensure rigorous and timely implementation of data systems and processes in the field. While constantly strengthening, streamlining measurement at Pratham, the next major goal for the team is to extend its know-how to other non-
