Director, Social Impact and Sustainability

In this multi-faceted role, you will work across our Global Social Impact and Sustainability initiatives including contributing to strategic planning, impact measurement, scaling of existing programs, and partnering on internal and external communications. Your primary responsibilities, include: collaborate with the Vice President, Global Social Impact and Sustainability to set strategic direction, identify priorities, and develop and refine social impact and sustainability goals to align with the company’s mission and Open World™ Impact objectives.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee impact and sustainability programs ensuring alignment with strategic vision
  • Develop and implement systems to evaluate impact and effectiveness, suggesting data-driven recommendations for improvements
  • Deliver successful social impact and sustainability initiatives that demonstrate Expedia Group’s unique value-add
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including customers, industry partners, associations, NGOs, and government agencies to enhance Expedia Group’s overall impact
  • Enhance internal partnerships and coordination, identifying and developing relationships with stakeholders to ensure social impact and sustainability efforts are embedded across the company
  • Oversee the creation of compelling content (e.g., articles, reports, videos, presentations, social media posts) that highlights the organization’s impact and sustainability achievements
    partner with Communications team to promote initiatives internally and externally
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, tech-enabled innovative solutions in social impact and sustainability and make suggestions on how to adapt Expedia Group’s strategy accordingly
  • Oversee annual strategic planning for the Social Impact and Sustainability team including partnering with Finance to develop and manage budgets
  • Mentor the team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to support the execution of social impact and sustainability-related initiatives

Who you are:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in roles related to corporate social impact, corporate sustainability, corporate social responsibility, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and/or related areas
  • A proven track record of successfully planning, implementing, and managing impact initiatives with demonstrated initiative and creativity
  • Ability to think strategically and develop a clear roadmap and vision for organization’s social impact and sustainability initiatives, aligning with mission and ambition
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge and subject-matter expertise across a wide range of social impact and sustainability areas including social innovation, sustainability and climate, ESG, and technology for good
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including the ability to inspire and develop a team
  • An understanding of the technology and travel sectors as well as a passion for using technology tools to drive sustainability and social impact
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with impact measurement, reporting frameworks, sustainability and ESG regulations
  • A genuine passion for the travel industry and Expedia Group’s ability to reimagine it as more sustainable and inclusive for everyone, everywhere

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $184,500 to $258,000. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $295,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in New York is $196,000.00 to $274,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $313,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.  Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
