SUMMARY:
As member of the Senior Management Team, the Program and Sponsorship Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership for programs and sponsorship initiatives; lead in development and implementation of strategic policies, plans and proposals, networks and partnership initiatives, tools, standards that enhance quality growth and management on all program and sponsorship activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Strategic Planning – Leads the development of the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and ensures Local Partner strategic plans alignment with the CSP; Provides strategic direction, creative inputs and capacity building on alignment and integration of sponsor relations activities and life-stage based programs. Supports the development of realistic and efficient project and program budgets for the country operation.
Program Quality, Technical and Management support – Lead the diverse program and sponsorship team, ensure high quality programming , provide technical leadership to ensure the program results are achieved.;
Program Model Customization – Responsible for adapting ChildFund program models to local contexts, and provide technical guidance and support in implementing the program models.
Program Monitoring & Evaluation – Provides leadership for establishing monitoring, evaluation and learning systems to help measure organization’s progress towards its core outcomes, monitors programs for compliance; Oversees the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of quality sponsorship strategies and activities that promote participation and creativity; Revision of Monitoring & Evaluation (including sponsorship performance) data and facilitates related decision-making by the Senior Management Team.
Sponsorship Enrolment and Quota Management – Leads the definition of programmatic and sponsorship enrolment criteria to select deprived, excluded and vulnerable children and priority locations for ChildFund’s intervention, decides quota levels for partners, oversees building of partner capacity for enrolment and retention processes, exercise quality control on enrolments, plan for and seek global support function (as required) to support systems updates relative to country partner portfolio shifts and planning.
Sponsor administration and Donor Relations – Oversees adequate flow of sponsorship documentation and information from/to local partners and sponsors and donors. Actively participates in business development processes, identifying potential donors and supporters and preparing documents and proposals to mobilize resources from national and international sources. Assures compliance with donor requirements in the implementation process and provides quality and timely reporting to all donors and sponsors; supervises the delivery of Gifts in kind delivery and their administration and management in support of program.
Advocacy, partnership and external networking – Proactive external engagement to identify, build and nurture new and existing partner relationships to achieve strategic goals and enhance program and sponsorship execution and processes for increased impact and quality. Engagement with governmental and non-governmental partners to promote advocacy agenda. Engages with ChildFund Alliance members and strategic partners to build support for ChildFund’s advocacy agenda, country programs and address sponsorship issues. In collaboration with the Country Director, represents ChildFund in important programmatic and strategic networks and alliances at the national and international level.
Knowledge management, learning and collaboration – Facilitates collaboration among country offices and global teams (including sharing of staff resources), documentation, learning and sharing and promotes further standardization on program delivery, grants and sponsorship execution; Oversees the documentation & dissemination of best program practices in order to promote program quality through knowledge products, like project and program designs and lessons, case studies and research products that meet standards and enable organization-wide learning; identifies needs and organizes relevant training for staff capacity building in collaboration with Human Resources. Seeks and leverages existing knowledge products in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the teams.
Enterprise Risk Management – actively participates in the regular review of risks affecting ChildFund’s operations in the country and supports the development and implementation of mitigation plans; together with implementation teams and the Senior Management Team provides guidance, training and support in the prevention, reporting, mitigation, investigation and management of all risks covered in corporate policies, including fraud, safety & security, code of conduct amongst others.
Child Safeguarding – Remains alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquires relevant knowledge and skills which will enable the promotion of strong safeguarding practices, understanding the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and self-conduct in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy
Qualifications and Experience:
Required Demonstration of knowledge and experience in program and project design; grant acquisition and management; oversight and accountability for large programs; resource stewardship, and cross functional coordination.
Postgraduate with at least 10 years of demonstrated work experience in technical leadership in program management related to one of more of the technical areas of Child Protection, Education, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, Health and Nutrition preferably in an international not-for-profit environment.
Familiarity with the social, economic, and political environment in the country with respect to legal systems, policies and programs as well as key actors in the area of child rights, community development and family care issues.
Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social and political issues.
Experience in conflict and risk management and ability to pragmatically solve problems, plan a course of action using analytical, conceptual, strategic and forward-thinking abilities to achieve an effective resolution
Proven Supervising/Management experience including direct supervision of professional and support teams, including evaluation of staff performance and deliverables.
Computer proficiency in general office software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English and in one of the prevailing local languages ;
PreferredUnderstanding of child sponsorship operations and workflows, sponsorship programming, sponsorship policies and standards
Education
Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree or similar in areas related to social and child development, program and project management or any other relevant and related field. Equivalent work experience maybe acceptable in lieu of degree.

Senior Manager- Program and Partnership is a Senior Management Position to contribute to the achievement of ChildFund Sri Lanka’s Country Strategic Plan – one million smiles by 2026. The position will effectively manage ChildFund’s diverse program and partnership portfolio including management of in-country partners. S/he will be required working with a diverse and committed team to deliver high quality program. S/he will be responsible for identifying, developing, nurturing, and evaluating strategic partnerships and collaborations to strengthen the program management and support resource mobilization to scale ChildFund’s impact.
