Sambodhi Research & Communications helps create high-impact knowledge to catalyse accountability in public domain. We offer project management, monitoring & evaluation and research solutions to implementers, federal and state governments, bilateral and multilateral aid agencies and corporate philanthropic foundations. Over the past decade, we have pioneered cutting-edge methodologies for evaluation of large-scale interventions across sectors and themes including public health, nutrition, sanitation, natural resources, renewable energy, livelihoods and microfinance. Sambodhi also works towards enhancing appreciation of evidence-based functioning among development organisations and practitioners. As part of our field-building effort, we co-founded the Community of Evaluators-South Asia (CoE-SA); are home to the South Asian Journal for Evaluation in Practice (SAJEP) – first-of-its-kind peer reviewed journal on evaluation from this region; and have trained more than 5,000 professionals on M&E and related areas.

1. Senior Manager – Capacity Building

Sambodhi Research and Communication Pvt. Ltd is looking for an entrepreneurial individual with a demonstrated track record of leading/managing capacity-building solutions in the social impact space. The role requires prior exposure to the capacity building of individuals and institutions across the social sector. Specific experience in M&E Capacity Building will be an added advantage. Candidates should be able to successfully demonstrate strong client engagement skills and effectiveness in working with a variety of stakeholders, including government functionaries, national and international academia, and consultants from multiple practices. A prior experience of successfully assisting, designing, and executing large designing and executing large-scale capacity-building development projects will be preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

The candidate will perform the following key functions:

  • Efficiently manage capacity building portfolio of Sambodhi – this includes quality assurance and liaising with partner organizations, consultants, vendors, and relevant agencies.
  • Assist in conceptualizing, designing, and deploying cutting-edge capacity development curriculums on monitoring, learning, and evaluation; data analysis for different stakeholders, including government functionaries, civil society practitioners, and young and emerging development professionals.
  • Help formulate strategies and conceptualize implementation of various marketing/business plans and develop opportunities with new and existing clients, tracking upcoming RFPs, leading proposal development teams, networking, etc.
  • Leading internal team and the project leads for implementation of various capacity development projects.
  • Contribute towards various publications, webinars, and forums in M&E and research space.
  • Develop internal capacity and growth of competency within the existing organization structure.

Education:
Postgraduate degree in relevant social sciences field from Premier Universities

Experience:
5-7 years of work experience in capacity development/technical support/research and M&E

Personal Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Research, Evaluation, Data Analysis, and related aspects
  • The role requires prior exposure to and experience in working on capacity development in monitoring and evaluation or development research
  • Solution-oriented mindset and experience in creating and delivering solutions through various programs
  • Ability to lead, plan, and manage a complex set of activities
  • Ability to operate effectively in teams
  • Prior experience working with governments and/or civil societies and/or university systems will be an added advantage
  • Candidates should be able to successfully demonstrate strong client engagement skills, and effectiveness in working with a variety of stakeholders, including government functionaries, national and international academia, and consultants from multiple practices
  • Prior experience in successfully leading, designing, and executing large-scale capacity-building development projects will be preferred

2. Senior Research Manager

Sambodhi Research and Communications Private Limited is looking for a social research professional to manage research, monitoring, and evaluation projects across Agriculture, Livelihoods, Natural Resource Management, and Energy Sectors. You will be working for Inclusive Growth and Sustainability unit in our organization. You will be playing a key role in the implementation of these projects and be a part of the growing team of sector professionals in South Asia. Your work requires a strong research understanding, including research and evaluation designs and methodologies, interviewing techniques, and qualitative and quantitative analytical skills. You are expected to stay abreast of the global peer-reviewed literature and be knowledgeable about cutting-edge theories and methods of M&E.

Job Responsibilities:

The candidate will perform the following key functions:

  • Conceptualize and propose research, monitoring, and evaluations design across projects and proposals including landscaping exercises, cross-sectional assessments, impact evaluations, monitoring, and secondary reviews/synthesis.
  • Design research, monitoring, and research methodologies and work plans for project execution.
  • Design research tools for data collection using mixed methods approaches.
  • Execute projects/assessments along with the team of enumerators, including capacity building of the team for project execution.
  • Conduct key informants interviews/focus groups/workshops with key respondents.
  • Liaison with partner organizations, consultants, vendors, and other relevant agencies.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis with primary and secondary data.
  • Assist/Lead the project team in the development of reports, presentations, and other communication materials. This may include research, drafting, editing, data analysis, and presentation.
  • Make and deliver presentations of reports/proposals to clients/potential clients.

Skills Required: Quantitative Research, Qualitative Research, Impact Evaluation, End-to-End Project Management, Proposal Writing, Time Management

Education: Master’s degree in Social Sciences; Ph.D. is a plus

Experience:

  • 5-8 years of work experience in research, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Experience in contemporary methodologies and practices, with hands-on experience in writing and publications.
  • Experience of working in social and development research in the management of large-scale surveys is desired.

Personal Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of Research, Evaluation, Data Analysis & thematic understanding of various sectors in the social & development domain.
  • Fluency in both quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Experience working with SHGs, FPO, NRLMs, and in rural development.
  • Professional fluency in oral and written English. Spoken Hindi required, and other regional language(s) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, STATA, or other statistical packages for data analysis.
  • Enthusiastic about travel to different geographies.
  • Enthusiastic about writing and creative visualization.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
