ABOUT YOU
You are passionate about development work and making a positive impact on communities, and you want to join a dynamic environment, where you will be able to work with leaders from around the globe. You have a background in finance and you are comfortable with accounting norms as well. You have a comfortable use of Excel and can present numbers and data, comprehensively and analytically.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, National diploma, or higher certificate in finance or accounting.
  • Proficient Computer Literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Flexibility, ability to meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and a good sense of responsibility
  • Demonstrated fluency in written and oral English (Required)
  • Great interpersonal skills

Note: Employment in all the Dalberg offices is conditional on the candidate having or obtaining the requisite authorization to live and work in that country.

WHAT YOU WILL DO AND HOW YOU WILL GROW
The Finance Intern is a useful resource to the Operations team, as well as a reliable partner to the consultants. You will be working closely with various stakeholders internally as well as externally. Proactivity, as well as responsiveness, are essential to be successful in the role. A problem-solving as well as an analytical mindset will be key, to running the day-to-day operations. Based in the Kigali office, you will mainly attend to requests from the office’s staff however, you may be called upon to assist other offices on a case-by-case basis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Post detailed entries to the reporting system and prepare standard journals and ledger entries.
  • Support the monthly closing processes and periodic reporting.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Responsible for timely submission and completion of missing project information.
  • Review expense reports for approval by the finance lead.
  • Assist in providing information during annual audits.
  • Assist in providing information pertaining to VAT, PAYE, and withholding tax submissions.
  • Support prompt preparation and submission of client invoices and attending to other related client queries.
  • Support the reconciliation of staff expense accounts and submit reports for reimbursement purposes.
  • Support the global operations team during the rollout of firm-wide initiatives.
  • Support the reconciliation of accounts receivable and payable accounts and highlight long outstanding balances.
  • Support the preparation of the bank reconciliation.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Manage vendor relationships.
  • Assist in compiling the regional cost report on a quarterly basis and on charge of the respective inter-offices.
  • Other tasks as required.
