The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States. These six locations include the centers of world governance and the places whose political evolution and international policies will most determine the near-term possibilities for international peace and economic advance.

Carnegie India is looking to hire a Senior Research Analyst/Research Fellow for its Technology and Society Programme. The programme has, so far, focused on strategic technologies, including research on space and semiconductors; data – domestic legislation and localisation of data to its international effects; encryption; and the future of payments and digital currencies. The program wans to expand its programmatic focus to include research and policy work on Digital Public Infrastructure, and Artificial Intelligence.

The programme also takes a lead role in setting-out the conceptual and practical outline for Carnegie India’s flagship annual Global Technology Summit. The position requires 5 or more years of experience working on crucial policy problems associated with the future of technology. Preferred applicants may have a wide variety of backgrounds including data science, finance, economics, those with a legal or a public policy background, and technologists. A track record of published works will be given preference. Applicants with a proven interest and expertise on different aspects of Digital Public Infrastructure will be given preference. In sum, the program is looking for someone with exciting ideas about the future of technology, and who is spirited about expanding the technology program at Carnegie India.

The scholar selected for the role should also be able to work with other scholars in the Technology and Society program, be able to pivot to other ongoing projects requiring immediate attention, and work with the larger Carnegie India team to convene regular events, from time to time, as the case may be.
