Position Summary

Climate & Sustainability – Senior Analyst, SGO Intelligence & Analysis

If you have outstanding research, analysis, and business writing skills and are passionate about sustainability and interested in advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues, join the SGO Intelligence & Analysis team.

This tightly integrated team spans U.S. and India. It supports Deloitte’s Strategic Growth Offerings (SGOs), including the Climate & Sustainability SGO, with research, analysis, and clear communication. The team’s outputs include market intelligence for Deloitte leaders; research-based thought leadership; and clear, compelling, jargon-free narratives to support client communications.

ESG has become very important to our clients as they experience increased levels of environmental risk; changing societal norms; and advocacy from investors, regulators, and consumers. The Climate & Sustainability Strategic Growth Offering (SGO) coordinates resources and capabilities from across the firm to help our clients accelerate their journey toward sustainable leadership and more equitable society.

Work you’ll do

You help develop research and analysis on critical business and technology issues and trends relating to climate and sustainability. Leveraging a variety of research methods and rigorous analysis, you will provide unique perspectives and be a trusted source for timely, and reliable, and business-relevant insights.

The role entails conducting in-depth research on market developments related to climate and sustainability to surface technology and business trends, develop leadership reports, and write briefs based on primary and secondary sources. You will be expected to develop research ideas, frame hypotheses, analyze quantitative and qualitative data, and develop actionable findings and insights. Sources and tools, you will use include interviews with subject matter experts and industry leaders, third-party databases and commissioned research, analyst reports, government publications, industry commentaries, and news articles.

You will work with India- and U.S.-based colleagues.

Job responsibilities

  • Stay current on critical issues in climate and sustainability and research methods and tools
  • Conduct research using sources such as academic literature, financial statements, case studies, business and industry news, and quantitative data; some primary research may be involved as well
  • Help develop research proposals by suggesting research topics, providing research support, and formulating research plans
  • Discover patterns in large and diverse information sources to develop insights, and frame hypothesis
  • Support senior team members in writing briefs, viewpoints, and articles
  • Create PowerPoint presentations and contribute to research reports
  • Liaise with US and India team members to understand requirements and prioritize work

Skills required

  • Knowledge of sustainability & climate change technologies, trends, and business issues is a strong plus
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of strategy development and market & competitive intelligence
  • Extensive experience in one or more of the following research methods: primary research (surveys, interviews), financial analysis, secondary research, data analysis, and case study research
  • Proficiency in developing executive-level presentations
  • Facility with databases such as Factiva, Thomson, Hoovers, Bloomberg, and Eikon
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and strong team player
  • Highly developed personal and professional ethics

Qualifications, Experience, Work Location, and Timing

  • Academic qualification: Master’s Degree like MBA/CFA/CA
  • Work experience: 3 to 5 years
  • Location: Mumbai/Bengaluru
  • Work hours: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
