Faculty Positions in Education – Azim Premji University

Azim Premji University was established under the Azim Premji University Act 2010 of the Government of Karnataka. Azim Premji Foundation, the sponsoring body set up the University as a fully philanthropic and not-for-profit entity, with a clear social purpose. The University started in 2011 and since then have admitted over 2000 students.

Azim Premji University, Bhopal is expected to start operations in Bhopal in 2023. It will offer programmes in teacher education, public health and other domains related to education and development. It will also offer a wide range of continuing education programmes in these domains.

We invite applications for the Education programme for our upcoming campus at Bhopal, specifically in the areas of Curriculum and Pedagogy of school subjects, Sociology of Education, Early Childhood Education, School Systems, Special Education, Psychology of Education.

In addition to those who have engaged substantially with ideas in education, we invite those with deep and significant field experience. Those whose work focuses on school education in the Indian context would be of the most interest.

Philosophy of Education

Can you teach Master’s students to seek rational justifications for and critique principles guiding educational practice?

We are seeking candidates to teach the Philosophy of Education course. You should:

• Have knowledge of the discipline of Philosophy an d familiarity with the discourse on education, in Inida
• Be able to equip students to employ philosophical tools sucj=h as conceptual analysis, rational justification, argument building and critique to examine foundational issues in educational practice.
• Be well versed with thematic areas such as aims, nature of knowledge, curriculum, pedagogy and notions of school

Requirement:

• For academics: an advanced degree in relevant field
• For experienced practitioners: On the ground experience of more than 10 years and a postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in any relevant field
• Ability to teach and develop course in a Master’s level Education Programme
• Ability to engage with students in Hindi Language
