The Opportunity
The overall purpose of the Data Analyst role is to provide data analysis and oversight to the Enterprise Technology (ET) projects to ensure compliance with established portfolio processes, tools, and templates. The Data Analyst would join the ET Portfolio Management team, which owns the areas of Demand Management, Change Control, Project Initiation, Project/Program Management Methodologies, Financial Governance, Project Delivery, Data Quality Assurance, Compliance, Dashboard & KPI reporting for all of ET.
Your key responsibilities
- The data analyst could take ownership and drive the above disciplines with limited direction required and has deep knowledge and skills within the Project & portfolio lifecycles. Key responsibilities areas include, but not limited to:
- Drive consistent data quality within the Portfolio, Program, and Project domain using productivity and reporting tools (such as Teams, SharePoint, Excel, SQL Server, Power BI, etc.) to support effective data analysis.
- Create data quality metrics and dashboards for the delivery and project managers to self-monitor.
- Coordinate Power BI Dashboard reporting changes with the ET Analytics team.
- Where appropriate, coordinate and perform mass updates within Microsoft ePPM or other portfolio related tools on behalf of the portfolios.
- Monitor the adherence to the standard project intake process that includes clear scope definition, cost estimating, sponsorship approvals, and standardized set up of projects.
- Monitor and report on the project approval metrics at portfolio and program levels.
- Track budget availability levels using project actuals and forecasted spend.
- Measure and improve project team performance using KPIs and other compliance metrics.
- Lead and train the portfolios to be self-sufficient about their project data. Communicate and coach on any changes to process, tool, and enablers.
- Recognize and acknowledge those who maintain complete project data sets as defined by our cohesion processes.
- Perform periodic performance reviews and share early warning indicators of project failure
- Become intimately knowledgeable with the project initiations, budgets, in-flight status, and proper closure
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role, you must have
- 2-5 years of experience in data analysis or financial analysis within geographically dispersed teams
- End to end understanding of project management and software development life cycles
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Data Analysis and Visualization Tools required: Excel, Power BI, SQL Server, etc.
- Understanding of end-to-end financial governance – plan, forecast, and actuals at the function, portfolio, and program/project levels
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively at all levels in a global virtual cross-cultural environment
- Ability to quickly gain in-depth knowledge of the organizational structure of the firm and relevant IT processes
- Experience with Project & Portfolio management tools (PPM, Project professional, ServiceNow, etc.) is a plus, but not required
- Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change
- Strong reasoning and analytical skills
Certification Requirements:
- Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and/or SQL Server certifications preferred
- Familiarity with PMI Project/Program Management Principles, COBIT IT Governance Principles, ITIL v2 or 3, LEAN Six Sigma, etc. would be advantageous
