Programme Context The Department of Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP), is on an ambitious reform agenda to improve the quality of the public school system and learning outcomes. This reform agenda focuses on accountability and governance, structural and administrative reforms, capacity building and learning from innovations and international best practices in pedagogy and delivery.

Peepul has partnered with the Govt. of MP to strengthen learning outcomes for almost a decade. Through this partnership, we have also developed a deep understanding of the Madhya Pradesh context, education landscape, and administrative support structures at the ground level.

Peepul is a critical partner to the Government of Madhya Pradesh in their flagship “CM RISE Schools” programme. We are partnering to build an Academic Support and Monitoring Unit (ASMU), to create exemplar public schools that provide high-quality holistic education to children across Madhya Pradesh.

The CM RISE Schools are envisioned to showcase quality teaching-learning practices & innovative school management processes and act as visual exemplars in the school system for all others to learn and derive motivation from.

Role Description The role of the Programme Advisor/ Sr. Programme Advisor is critical to the success of the continued partnership with the Government of Madhya Pradesh towards achieving quality education for all and to Peepul’s strategic objective of supporting quality improvement in the public school system in India.

As part of our support to the CM RISE Schools and other state priorities, the Programme Advisor/ Sr. Programme Advisor will be primarily responsible for advising and supporting the state government functionaries in managing their priorities, to improve the quality of the public school system and learning outcomes through CM RISE Schools and other state initiatives.

This person will work closely with senior officials in the School Education Department in Madhya Pradesh.

Responsibilities would include:

• Convening meetings of leaders to ensure timely movement towards action; synthesising status of updates and planned next steps
• Ensuring rigor in implementation of key government priorities, working with government stakeholders and state partners
• Generating data and insights that are critical to programme success; identifying and highlighting risks to programme for necessary action.
• Helping the senior official manage their disparate priorities to ensure alignment and ease of managing tasks.

Please note that the title of Programme Advisor or Sr. Programme Advisor will depend on qualifications and past work experience.

Qualifications

● Deep passion and strong interest in the education sector

● 2-3 years of relevant work experience (for Programme Advisor) and 6-8 years of relevant work experience (for Sr. Programme Advisor)

● Preference for work experience in the public education system, or previous work with the government

● Advanced degree and professional qualification in public administration and/or management, public policy, economics or relevant discipline is preferred

● Proven record of hands-on experience in the management of complex units and situations

● Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with senior government officials will be sought

Compensation and Benefits Compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications and experiences.
