You are part of a team in India responsible for building the sourcing strategies on sustainable cocoa with the goal to meet Cocoa-Life objectives on best practices in sustainable cocoa farming, improving livelihoods in cocoa communities, protecting the forest and the environment, and building and maintaining the reputation of Mondelēz International.

How you will contribute

You will lead a team that manages cocoa procurement, and achieve annual budget targets for volume, cost and quality. The team is also tasked with managing the cocoa seedlings program from cocoa research to cocoa nursery to farmer education and achieving targeted seedlings sales by establishing good relationships with program-implementing government officials.

In addition, you will:

  • Ensure program implementation for the Mondelēz Cocoa-Life sustainability initiative – including community development, livelihood opportunities, child education, health awareness, women empowerment and environment protection.
  • Implement a monitoring and evaluation system for the Cocoa-Life program in partnership with external and independent verification agencies.
  • Oversee plantation management to ensure compliance with annual budgets, cost and compliance review and to achieve key metrics on crop yields, production cost/ton, capex, etc.

  • Crop science mastery
  • Significant experience in agriculture, procurement, cocoa or plantation management
  • Exposure to community programs
  • Experience in a corporate business in operations, general management, procurement or manufacturing
  • Hands-on knowledge of external communication, including media and with government agencies
  • Some experience of working with NGOs

More about this role

What you need to know about this position:

The incumbent will be handling sustainability related projects, connecting with stakeholders, NGOs etc for our Coco operations function with primary work in Elluru – Andhra Praresh and Idduki, Calicut in Kerala.

Education / Certifications: Bachelors/ masters in Social work would be preffered

Job specific requirements:

Would require someone who is fluent in local south Indian languages especially Telugu and Malayalam.

Travel requirements:

  • Field visits 2-3 days in a week, travel to locations in South India, 40% of the time
  • Work schedule: 5.5 days working, general shift with flexibility when required
  • Within Country Relocation support available and for candidates voluntarily moving internationally some minimal support is offered through our Volunteer International Transfer Policy
